Let it GLOW, Let it GLOW

For the past week or so I have been prepping for the Neon Run, 5K this weekend at the Frederick Fairgrounds.  Now, I am all about a themed race (that is probably due to my inner nerd) but any race that is run at night and includes black lights and neon glow paint is high on my list of races to do!  Of course, my PIC Melinda and I signed up for this one quickly – especially because there was a great Groupon deal – but more importantly, I recruited 2 additional non-runner friends to join us for the mayhem.  While they may end up walking a fair amount of the course, just getting them involved and excited about running was an accomplishment, and I think one of the two may actually stick with it.

To sweeten the pot, I volunteered to make us all neon, tulle running tutus for the event, which is what I have been working on this week.  Honestly, cutting all that tulle is a pain in the butt which could explain why it is 1 day before the race and I still have one more to make… looks like I will be having a wild and crazy Friday night with my scissors and HBO.

I’m not sure what to expect with this race, the course is relatively asinine (see below) but according to the website there will be photo booths, a DJ, vendors and a beer tent for the post-race party, so nonetheless it sounded like a unique way to spend a Saturday night with the girls!

Seriously?? Is this a course or a maze?
I’ll be sure to report back on Monday with my post-race review.  Who knows, you may want to sign up when the Neon Run comes to your town.

  1. I ran this course for my first ever 5k last year... it is a maze... I felt like I was in the Tri-Wizard Cup for it. I'm super excited to get glow-tastic with you for this awesome event!/!
